Guide to Wireless Access and Printing at Wells Public Library


All computers and printers are unavailable at this time.
WiFi can still be accessed.


Wells Public Library is pleased to offer free wireless access at our library. Wireless users must abide by our Computer Use Policy, as well as all other library policies. The library cannot guarantee all equipment will work with our network. 

Where can I access WiFi at the library?

Connection to WiFi should be avilable anywhere in the building, and also directly outside the building.

How can I connect to WiFi at the library?

For Phones and Tablets: Have device turned on either in the library or just outside. Click on “Settings” and then choose “WiFi”. From the list of available wireless networks, select “Wells Library Public WiFi”. This should open an internet browser. If it does not, open an internet browser manually. When the internet browser is open, it will automatically display the library’s WiFi login page. If it does not automatically redirect, type the following into the brower's address bar: 192.168.2.1:8080. Create a unique ID and click “Accept”. This ID is needed in order to print. 

For laptop computers: Have device turned on either in the library or just outside. In the lower right-hand corner of the screen, click on device’s wireless internet icon. From the list of available wireless networks, select “Wells Library Public WiFi”. This should open an internet browser. If it does not, open an internet browser manually. When the internet browser is open, it will automatically display the library’s WiFi login page. If it does not automatically redirect, type the following into the browser's address bar: 192.168.2.1:8080. Create a unique ID and click “Accept”.

Is my information safe while using wireless?

Information is not protected by our wireless hardware. Some websites offer encryption (stores & banks often do), which is one form of security. Be aware of this when accessing or transmitting sensitive business or personal information. User accepts all risk when using our network.

Can I print while using wireless?

The library offers wireless printing for personal devices. The cost of printing is $.15 per page in black and white and $.50 per page in color. 

Unfortunately, wireless laptop printing is not available at this time. If you have a document on your laptop that you would like to print, please see a librarian for alternative options.

Patrons use the library’s computer resources at their own risk. Loss of a patron’s time, work or property shall not be the responsibility of the library for any reason. The library staff does not provide in-depth support for computer users on a walk-in basis and may not have staff available to assist patrons in setting up e-mail accounts.
